Anthony B è un noto cantante reggae giamaicano, che – come Sizzla e Capleton – aderisce alla corrente dei Bobo Ashanti, uno dei filoni più fondamentalisti del rastafarianesimo (la fede religiosa di ispirazione cristiana diffusissima in Giamaica). Distinguibili dal turbante stretto intorno alla testa, i deejay bobo invocano, attraverso le loro liriche, il ricorso al «fuoco purificatore» contro «il corrotto regno di Babilonia».fonte

Purtroppo, uno dei bersagli più frequenti delle loro invettive è proprio l'omosessualità o – con le parole di questi cantanti – la "sodomia": un chiaro riferimento all'immagine biblica di Sodoma e Gomorra.

E infatti nel 1996 Anthony B pubblica il brano Bun Down Sodom [brucia

Sodoma], incluso nell'album Real Revolutionary (Greensleeves).
Seguito nel 1998 dal brano Cut Out That (incluso nell'LP Seven Seals, VP Records 1999) in cui Anthony B canta: «A go bun all soddom whey dem practice» [brucerò tutti i sodomiti e le loro pratiche].
Nel 2002 esce per l'etichetta Crown International il singolo intitolato Chi Chi Man.

In creolo giamaicano "chi chi" significa letteralmente "termite,

parassita", e "chi chi man" è l'epiteto dispregiativo comunemente

usato per denigrare i gay.

Ma l'omofobia non è solo un prodotto della dancehall: la musica contribuisce semplicemente ad alimentare, ad amplificare e a diffondere ovunque un pregiudizio culturale preesistente in Giamaica, dove l'omosessualità è ancora considerata un reato, in virtù di una legge che risale ai giorni della schiavitù e del colonialismo britannico. L'articolo 76 del codice penale giamaicano sancisce infatti il reato di «sodomia», definito come «un rapporto anale tra un uomo e una donna o tra due uomini». Chi trasgredisce questa legge può essere condannato a scontare fino a dieci anni di lavori forzati.
