BREVI FATTI

A un concerto svoltosi a Chicago il 12 aprile 2002, Sizzla si è vantato dicendo che lui ammazza i gay e le lesbiche, e ha anche incitato il pubblico a fare lo stesso: «non ritirerò le mie parole… io uccido i sodomiti e i gay, perché loro portano l’AIDS e le malattie alla gente… sparagli e uccidili, non ritirerò le mie parole».

Un rapporto di Amnesty International datato 17 maggio 2004, a proposito di un concerto reggae svoltosi in Giamaica nello stesso anno, denuncia che sia Sizzla che altre reggae star stanno minacciando di uccidere i gay: «Durante il corso della serata, Capleton, Sizzla e altri, hanno cantato quasi esclusivamente liriche sui gay. Usando il termine dispregiativo per gay – «chi chi men» o «batty bwoys» – hanno esortato il pubblico ad «ucciderli, i batty bwoy devono morire, colpi di pistola sulle loro teste, chiunque voglia vederli morti, alzi le mani».

In un’intervista rilasciata a Richard Burnett per il giornale canadese Hour, il 19 agosto 2004 Sizzla ha dichiarato: «Bruciate i sodomiti, bruciate i battyman. Bruciate tutte le cose che sono sbagliate. Bruciateli… dobbiamo uscire da Sodoma e Gomorra proprio adesso…».

Nel settembre 2004 il quotidiano Jamaica Observer ha reso noto che i vicini di Sizzla hanno lanciato una petizione per convincerlo ad abbandonare la loro comunità, perché la sua presenza ha causato un incremento della violenza nella comunità di Kingston.
